The Livestock and Fishery Sector Development Project (LFSDP) aims at supporting the government’s strategy for livestock growth and transformation as articulated in GTPII and Livestock Master Plan. The project development objectives are to increase productivity and commercialization of producers and processors in selected value chains, strengthen service delivery systems in the livestock and fisheries sectors, and respond promptly and effectively to an eligible crisis or emergency. The project focuses on four livestock value chains: dairy, poultry, red meat and fisheries. It is implemented in 58 woredas across eight regions: Oromia, Amhara, former SNNPR (South Ethiopia, Southwest Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia and Sidama ), Tigray, Gambela and Benishangul Gumuz. Several partners have collaborated with the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) to implement this project. Accordingly, the ATI has signed memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) to carry out prioritized interventions and activities across project beneficiary regions. Key interventions include the design and implementation of an innovative Livestock and Fisheries Farmer Field School (L&F FFS) approach; support for the development and rollout of national livestock and fisheries extension strategy and roadmap; digitalization of market-oriented livestock and fisheries extension system, and coaching and mentoring of sub-projects.
