Linkage and Coordination

Facilitating linkages and coordination among agricultural institutions and interventions is a core mandate of the ATI. To this end, the ATI has made significant strides in establishing grassroots coordination platforms within ACC regions, leveraging regional transformation councils as anchors. These platforms have fostered collaboration among key stakeholders, enabling structured discussions on major challenges, project designs, and roles within ACC programs. As a result, they have improved project implementation, enhanced stakeholder ownership, and ensured long-term sustainability.

Similarly, the Value Chain Alliance for grains and horticultural crops has brought together producers, processors, cooperatives, and investors to address production challenges and strengthen B2B engagements. For example, ATI’s collaboration with Heineken and Soufflet in malt barley production has attracted significant investments in Ethiopia’s food processing sector, moving the country closer to self-sufficiency in malt barley production. The strong linkages and coordination fostered through ACC flagship programs have further elevated ATI’s profile both nationally and internationally.

In addition, the ATI plays a key coordinating role in major national initiatives, including the Ethiopian Food Systems Transformation and Nutrition (EFSTN) and the Digital Agriculture Roadmap (DAR), ensuring alignment with broader agricultural and economic development goals.
