The ATI incubates, pilots, and scales up innovative interventions to address systemic bottlenecks in Ethiopia’s agriculture sector. The interventions cover three major areas: smallholder farmer commercialization (crop and livestock), agribusiness and market development, and digital agriculture.
In smallholder farmer commercialization, the ATI supports crop and livestock producers by enhancing productivity, improving access to quality inputs, strengthening extension services, and promoting climate-smart agricultural practices. The Institute also works to expand financial inclusion for smallholders by facilitating access to credit and insurance mechanisms tailored to agricultural risks. In agribusiness and market development, the ATI plays a pivotal role in enhancing value chain efficiency by linking smallholder farmers and agripreneurs with buyers, processors, and financial institutions.
Digital agriculture is another critical pillar of ATI’s interventions, harnessing technology to drive agricultural transformation. The Institute supports the development and adoption of digital solutions such as data-driven advisory services and mobile-based market information. These innovations enhance decision-making for farmers, reduce inefficiencies in agricultural operations, and improve resilience against climate variability.
