The ATI works to improve provision of inclusive and tailored services using cost-effective and efficient digital systems and tools, as well as by building a strong and self-sustaining rural financial sector. Improving access to timely, quality, and reliable services to all farmers.
The Digital Agriculture and Rural Finance verticals focus on transforming the agricultural sector by addressing systemic bottlenecks through the provision of inclusive and tailored services across the agriculture sector value-chain using cost-effective and efficient digital tools, as well as building a strong and self-sustaining rural financial sector with improved access to credit for smallholder farmers and mobilization of rural savings.
Through initiatives like the 8028 Farmer’s Hotline and the National Market Information System (NMIS), the ATI delivers essential agronomic and market data to enhance farmers’ productivity and decision-making. The Digital Agriculture Extension and Advisory Services (DAEAS) Roadmap outlines the digitization of agricultural extension services by 2030, aiming to address systemic challenges using cost-effective and inclusive digital tools. These efforts support the development of a modern, market-oriented agricultural sector aligned with national goals.
On the financial side, the Rural Financial Services (RFS) projects enhance smallholder farmers’ access to credit and foster rural savings. By strengthening the financial management capacity of Rural Saving and Credit Cooperatives (RuSACCOs), introducing innovative financial products, and modernizing payment systems, the ATI fosters a more transparent and efficient financial ecosystem. Key projects, such as the Input Voucher System (IVS) and its digital counterpart, eVoucher, have streamlined agricultural input payments, aligned with microfinance institutions, and automated processes to create a centralized, web-based financial platform. Together, these interventions drive inclusive, technology-enabled agricultural and financial systems for sustainable rural development.
