The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) hosted the President of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ), Steve Werblow, and his delegation to strengthen collaboration on agricultural communication and showcase Ethiopia’s agricultural transformation.

During a courtesy meeting, held on July 27, 2026 at the ATI headquarters, Dr Mandefro Nigussie, CEO of the ATI, highlighted the importance of strategic communication and quality journalism in amplifying the impact of agricultural innovations and ensuring farmers’ success stories reach global audiences.

The ATI also supported a two-day Science Communication training organised by Alliance for Science from July 24-25, 26 in Addis Ababa, for journalists from public and private media, aimed at strengthening science-based agricultural reporting.

The delegation then toured ATI-supported initiatives  on July 29, 2026, in Lume and Adama woredas. In Lume, they visited avocado cluster farms and a roadside market shade, where they witnessed how cluster farming and stronger market linkages are improving productivity and raising smallholder farmers’ incomes.

In Adama Wereda, the delegation visited the Qobo Luxo Digital Kiosk Centre, where farmers access digital advisory services, market information and modern agricultural technologies, demonstrating how digital innovation is making extension services more accessible and effective.
