Accelerating Climate-Smart Horticulture in Ethiopia

The Accelerating Climate-Smart Horticulture in Ethiopia (ACE) project is a four-year program that aims to improve the productivity, climate resilience, and income of small-scale horticulture producers through increased access to climate-smart technologies, climate analytics, innovative financing mechanisms, and strengthened market systems. The project promotes an ecosystem-based implementation model by engaging government institutions, research organizations, cooperatives, financial institutions, technology providers, and private-sector market actors. It focuses on strengthening the banana and avocado value chains while promoting climate-smart irrigation, climate-resilient production systems, and buyer-led market linkage approaches. The project is designed to improve income, nutrition, and climate resilience for 5,000 smallholder horticulture farmers across Ethiopia over a four-year period, with a strong commitment to 50 % women’s participation and inclusion. The project has the plan to support the smallholder horticulture producers within selected Farmers Production Clusters (FPCs)/Agribusiness companies (ABCs).
